| Invitation to the Oasis, 2004 |
This project was designed specifically in responce to the chaotic nature of the Art Fair in Miami. My idea was to create a perfect invitational getaway that only artists could attend. The Oasis provided the perfect antidote to art fair blues. Any artist who inquired was invited to come to the Oasis ( a heated salt water pool equiped with a professional Watsu practicionerThis project was designed specifically in response to the chaotic nature of the Art Basil Fair in Miami. My idea was to create a perfect invitational getaway that only artists could attend. Any artist who inquired was invited to come to the Oasis (a heated salt water pool equipped with a professional Watsu practitioner i.e. under water massage). Surveillance cameras were set up on all sides of the pool. Artists also used this space to perform projects that could not be sold at the fair. Further the Oasis was then transmitted via a real time live feed to Participant, Inc.’s booth. There the prospective art shoppers were forced to witness this ideal situation that they were not allowed to attend.
