PRESS RELEASE

“The Thing That Separates Man From Animal”
March 11-14

Lisa Kirk is pleased to announce a site-specific curatorial project,
entitled, “The Thing That Separates Man From Animal” for the -Scope NY art
fair March 11-14 in the lobby of The Flatotel, located at 135 west 52nd
street.

“The Thing That Separates Man From Animal” will feature site-specificinstallation,
collaborations, sculpture, video, and paintings by TheBengala, Michael Bilsborough,
Jeremiah Clancy, Ann Craven, Christy Gast, ErikHanson, Martin Keene, Keith Mayerson,
Chris Pennok and David Svensson.

Kirk has selected a variety of local and internationally known and emerging
contemporary artists whose work considers and plays with various themes in
nature. The entrance to the –scope New York art fair in the Flatotel lobby
will be transformed with the presence of backyard playground references and
peppered with social commentary. Much like her debut exhibition YOU, this
project focuses on the possibility of decadence and debauchery hidden behind
the corners of everyday ordinariness. From the seductive nature of Ann
Craven's birds joined together in collaboration with Keith Mayersons imagery of
Dorthy from Oz, to the suggestive illustrations of Michael Bilsborough, the
interactive comfort of David Svensson and the gorgeous beauty of desperate
fans rocking out in the video work of Jeremiah Clancy. The –scope NY art
fair lobby will illuminate the spectacle of the audiences relationship to art
through cultural interaction.
